Dave Rynski | Instructor & Consultant
Dave has 31 years of law enforcement experience in Southern California. During his tenure with the Santa Monica Police Department he has served in a variety of assignments including Field Patrol and Training Officer, Narcotics/Vice Investigator, Background Investigator, Recruitment Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Tactical Training Officer at the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy, School Resource Officer for the Santa Monica/Malibu Unified School District and Patrol Rifle team member. Dave has subject matter expertise in weaponless defensive tactics, narcotics recognition and violence prevention.
Dave is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Delinquency Control Institute (Class 118) where he received the award for academic excellence. Dave is also a graduate of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Leadership Institute (Class 10). In 2009 Dave received the Rotary Officer of the year award for his dedicated work in Juvenile crime prevention while at the Santa Monica Police Department. In 1993 Dave received the Department’s Medal of Courage award for his life saving intervention of an armed subject.
Dave is married to an Orange County School teacher and has two teenage children providing him with a vested interest in keeping all schools as permanent safety zones.
