Joe Sampson | Instructor & Consultant
Joe is a native Angelino. After completing his undergraduate work at the University of LaVerne, he spent five years as a high school teacher and volleyball coach in the LaVerne area.
After that time, Joe changed careers and entered the field of law enforcement, working for La Palma PD, Orange PD, and Morgan Hill PD. He served special assignments such as bike patrol, motorcycle officer, FTO, SWAT/ HNT, gang investigations, academy instructor, emergency/disaster preparedness unit supervisor, and PIO.
During his more than three-decade-long public safety career, Joe had the opportunity to work for the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), where he conducted managed projects conducted organizational assessments and strategic plans, and oversaw the POST Command College and the Executive Development Program.
He ultimately rose to the rank of Chief, serving at Allan Hancock Community College District in Santa Maria and the Pechanga Indian Reservation Tribal Ranger Department of Public Safety, where he retired in 2023.
