Chapman Shallcross | Instructor & Consultant
Chapman “Chap” Shallcross, has 34 years of fire service experience in Southern California. He began his career as a USFS firefighter working as a “Hotshot” with Cleveland National Forest in Southern California. Chap retired after serving 31 years with the Orange City Fire Department. He has served in a variety of assignments including Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Captain/Paramedic, Paramedic preceptor, and Lead Instructor for Swiftwater Rescue, Rescue Systems 1&2, and Trench Rescue. Chap also was a fire instructor for Santa Ana Fire Academy for 20 years as well as a FEMA CAT-5 rescue specialist, who sadly spent time in rescue/recovery post-Oklahoma bombing. Chap also was involved in the 1997 Cal Trans active shooter incident in Orange, feel free to ask him about the different levels of awareness.
Throughout Chap’s extensive fire service experience, he has received The Valor Award for duties above and beyond, the FEMA National Award for Oklahoma City Bombing, and Firefighter of the Year.
Chap is married to an Orange County School teacher and has three adult children which serve as critical incentives to provide the knowledge to save lives every day.
